Job description

Summary: Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes.

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frames or as requested.
  2. Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
  3. Interacts effectively with patients and their families.
  4. Helps patients with basic hygiene tasks, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
  5. Assists patients with turning, repositioning in bed, and transferring between bed and wheelchair.
  6. Listens to patients' health concerns and reports them to nurses.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.

Licenses and Credentials:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) - preferred.

Experience:

Experience working in inpatient/hospital care required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong patient/customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Proficient computer skills for electronic medical records.
