Job description

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region.

We are seeking a Probationary Full-Time Indigenous Education Services Provider for the 2025-2026 school year to join the Indigenous Education Services (IES) team in improving Indigenous student experience, fostering learning opportunities for all students, and collaborating with staff in a leadership capacity.

PWPSD is looking for individuals with the skills, knowledge and understanding to guide staff in creating culturally responsive and welcoming learning environments. Focuses will include reducing barriers to success and improving wellness focused supports for Indigenous students, and increasing the presence of Indigenous culture and knowledge division-wide.

The start date of this position is Monday August 25, 2025 or a mutually agreement date that aligns with the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

This position provides services division wide and as such, travel is required.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will require the ability to work within the unique dynamics of a school environment, provide connections to community resources, facilitate presentations, lead projects, and connect with students and families.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education or Indigenous Studies is required.
  • Related experience in an indigenous community would be an asset.
  • Candidates with an understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action are encouraged to apply.
  • A valid Drivers License.

A current Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Check), dated within the last six months, is a condition of employment.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $5,848.94 to $7,519.74 per month, payable over 10 months (September to June). The salary will be prorated for part-year or part-time assignments. The working schedule for this position is mid-August to the end of June (roughly following the school year calendar) with 1,400 hours of work per school year.
