As an energetic member of a performance-driven community service team your duties will include, but not be limited to, firefighting, vehicle extrication, rescues, pre-hospital emergency medical care, as well as fire prevention and public education activities. Successful candidates are also required to participate on one of the department’s special teams: Ice and Water Rescue, Hazardous Materials, and Technical Rescue (rope rescue, confined space, and trench rescue).
The following outlines the MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS required in order to apply for the Probationary Firefighter positions with the London Fire Department.

CRIMINAL REFERENCE CHECK:
Criminal reference check with a vulnerable sector screen, no more than 12 months old at the time of the posting.
May be obtained from the police department in the city reflected on your driver’s licence.
Must be uploaded with your application prior to the posting closing date.
While waiting for your Criminal reference check to be processed, you may upload your payment receipt as proof of applying.
APTITUDE AND PHYSICAL TESTING:
Successful completion of Stages 1 and 2 of the OFAI Candidate Testing Services (as verified by possession of current and valid CTS Certificates). Certificates must be valid and current at the time of application to be accepted (not expired).
Please note: A current and valid Stage 3 certification will be required prior to hire but not required at the time of application.
Applicants are responsible to cover the cost of the certifications noted above.
Candidate Physical Ability Tests (CPAT) are not accepted.
OFAI Swim test is an asset.
Starting rate - 60% of a First Class Firefighter (5th Class).
