Job description

The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing basic clinical duties, routine patient care, and standard clerical duties to support medical providers in the care and treatment of patients. The Medical Assistant will build and sustain positive, productive relationships that support the clinic and the patient. They will escort patients to pre-operative areas, take and record vital signs, and ask patients questions regarding symptoms, concerns, and medical history.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Greet and room patients, assist RN with patient vital signs, drawing blood, repositioning, and pre- and post-operative instructions.
  2. Record patient medical history, vital statistics, and additional pertinent information, such as test results, in medical records.
  3. Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition as necessary.
  4. Administer appropriate treatment under the direction of physician or RN and assist in patient care.
  5. Report emergency situations to Lead RN immediately.
  6. Assist in patient discharge.
  7. Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
  8. Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and/or patient registration.
  9. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Current certification as a Medical Assistant required.
  3. BLS certification required.
  4. Experience with GI or Pain Management preferred.
  5. Proficiency in MS Excel.
  6. Knowledge of GCP, federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA policies and procedures.
