Job summary

RBC in Halifax, Nova Scotia seeks a Private Banker to deliver the Black Card Experience to high net worth Canadians, focusing on wealth planning, credit, cash management, and daily banking. Build a local client network and deepen relationships through discovery and advice.

You will collaborate with Wealth Management Advisors and Commercial Account Managers to provide integrated solutions while representing RBC in the community and upholding standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in a client relationship role providing advice & solutions to clients.
  • Understanding of credit and financial planning fundamentals.
  • Proven track record of sales success and business development in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems and handle sensitive situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-end relationship management and proactive advice to high net worth households.
  • Coordinate with Wealth Management Advisors for long-term investment advice.
  • Engage with local community to identify opportunities and provide proactive solutions beyond immediate needs.
  • Develop external Centre of Influence and internal partner networks to acquire new clients.
  • Integrate with Private Banking Associate and Credit Structures teams for day-to-day banking needs.

What is the opportunity?

We are currently seeking a Private Banker to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia region. You will be an accredited professional delivering the Black Card Experience to high net worth Canadians, focused on Private Banking’s core value proposition of wealth planning, credit, cash management, and day-to-day banking. You will be responsible for bringing new clients to RBC by building a strong network in your local market while growing and deepening existing client relationships through discovery and advice. You will also be focused on winning as One RBC by introducing clients to the right solutions, partners, and capabilities at the right time, to help meet client needs both within Private Banking and across RBC.

What will you do?
  • Provide high-end relationship management and proactive advice to high net worth households following all five principles of the Black Card Experience, delivering an exceptional client experience and building client loyalty
  • Put clients at the centre and bring the full power of RBC to them, introducing them to the right partner at the right time, such as a Wealth Management Advisor/Counsellor for long-term investment advice, or a Commercial Account Manager for a business relationship
  • Be present in the community to be relevant to existing and prospective clients, leading to the ability to provide proactive advice and solutions beyond the immediate needs
  • Build/maintain an external Centre of Influence and internal partner network aligned with your target market to acquire new clients
  • Introduce the Private Banking Associate and Private Banking Advisor teams as key advisors on managing day-to-day banking needs and Credit Structures team as credit experts for credit advice and solutions; support the teams by respecting and reinforcing role clarity to deliver on client needs
  • Represent RBC Private Banking by acting as an ambassador for the business
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a client relationship role (personal and/or business) where you provided advice & solutions to clients
  • An understanding of credit and financial planning fundamentals
  • Proven track record of sales success, business development, and effective relationship management in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently to problem solve, resolve complex/ambiguous issues and sensitive situations
  • Investment Funds in Canada (IFIC) designation or must be obtained within 3 months
  • Financial Planning designation (PFP) or must be obtainedwithin 18 months
  • Mutual Fund Dealer – Dealing Representative License
Nice-to-have
  • Experience in Commercial Financial Services
  • Professional designations such as CFA, CPA, MBA, LL.B., FEA
