CHEO in Ottawa, Ontario seeks a Privacy Specialist to protect identifiable information under PHIPA and applicable laws. You will lead privacy policies, PIAs, incident investigations, and training, partnering with legal, information security, and clinical teams to uphold patient rights and foster a culture of privacy.

The role emphasizes collaboration, detailed risk assessment, and ongoing improvement of privacy programs, with experience in privacy regulations and strong analytical communication

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in health information management, law, public policy, or related field (Essential).
• Professional privacy certification (e.g., CIPP/C, CHPS) preferred.
• Three years of privacy, health information, or compliance experience (Essential).
• Strong knowledge of PHIPA and related privacy legislation (Preferred).

Responsabilidades

• Monitor and interpret privacy legislation and guidance to operationalize requirements.
• Develop, revise, and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and practices.
• Participate in reviews by the privacy commissioner and respond with appropriate submissions.
• Create and refine SOPs for privacy indicators and metrics.
• Consult with leaders, legal, and IT to implement privacy policies.
• Investigate privacy incidents and support corrective actions with stakeholders.
• Support PIAs for new programs and technologies; assess privacy risks.
• Identify privacy risks and propose mitigation strategies via PIAs.
• Lead consent management and handling of withdrawals of consent.
• Prepare reports on privacy compliance and risk trends for governance groups.
