Tasks:

  1. Supervise workers and projects
  2. Oversee apprenticeship training
  3. Train or arrange for training
  4. Coordinate and schedule activities
  5. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
  6. Recommend personnel actions
  7. Establish methods to meet work schedules
  8. Provide technical and professional advice
  9. Requisition materials and supplies
  10. Resolve work problems, provide technical advice, and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality

Support for newcomers and refugees:

  1. Recruit newcomers and/or refugees displaced by conflicts or natural disasters (e.g., Ukraine, Afghanistan)
  2. Support newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition
  3. Offer mentorship programs pairing newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees
  4. Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to foster a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees
  5. Offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Indigenous workers
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations
  7. Provide cultural competency and awareness training to all employees
  8. Facilitate access to Elders for support and guidance to Indigenous workers

Support for visible minorities:

  1. Apply hiring policies discouraging discrimination against visible minorities (e.g., anonymized hiring process)
  2. Offer mentorship programs pairing visible minorities with experienced employees
  3. Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create an inclusive work environment for visible minorities
