Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
Tasks:
- Supervise workers and projects
- Oversee apprenticeship training
- Train or arrange for training
- Coordinate and schedule activities
- Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
- Recommend personnel actions
- Establish methods to meet work schedules
- Provide technical and professional advice
- Requisition materials and supplies
- Resolve work problems, provide technical advice, and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
Support for newcomers and refugees:
- Recruit newcomers and/or refugees displaced by conflicts or natural disasters (e.g., Ukraine, Afghanistan)
- Support newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition
- Offer mentorship programs pairing newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees
- Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to foster a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees
- Offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Indigenous workers
- Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations
- Provide cultural competency and awareness training to all employees
- Facilitate access to Elders for support and guidance to Indigenous workers
Support for visible minorities:
- Apply hiring policies discouraging discrimination against visible minorities (e.g., anonymized hiring process)
- Offer mentorship programs pairing visible minorities with experienced employees
- Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create an inclusive work environment for visible minorities
