Job summary

Polytainers is seeking a Machine Operator in the Printing Department to operate a printing machine and handle packing/unpacking of rigid plastic containers. The role requires adherence to 5S, HACCP and Health and Safety rules, with a focus on quality control throughout production.

Reporting to the Printing Shift Supervisor, you will participate in line clearance, plate changes, and color head preparation, while maintaining accurate job cards and daily scheduling information.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication.
• Previous manufacturing or printing experience is asset but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform job kit verification, line clearance, replace plates, wash and prepare color heads.
• Run all lid and base presses, including six and eight color presses.
• Pack/unpack boxes according to customer requirements.
• Take trending tray samples and ensure ink coverage, alignment and registration.
• Apply labels and stamp every box without pre-labeling.
• Monitor product quality at the packing station and update the white board.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Printing Shift Supervisor, the Machine Operator in the Printing Department is responsible for operating a printing machine and packing / unpacking rigid plastic containers and lids. A fully qualified Machine Operator will be skilled in the following key responsibilities areas, however, may only be required to perform one or more of the responsibilities at a given time.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

• The machine operator is responsible for performing job kit verification, line clearance, replacing plates and washing and preparing color heads
• Run all lid and base presses, this includes all six and eight color presses
• Pack/unpack boxes according to customer requirements
• Take trending tray samples
• Apply labels and stamp every box without pre-labeling
• Cover other machines for lunch and breaks
• Monitor product quality, visually inspecting products at the packing station and maintaining the trending tray
• Inspect samples to ensure proper ink coverage, alignment, and registration.
• Monitor ongoing runs to maintain print quality and consistency throughout production, adjusting, as necessary.
• Perform product control duties, update job cards and enter information on daily machine scheduling and attainment board (white board)
• Adherent to company policies and procedures

• Meet standards of conduct
• Adhere to 5S, HACCP and Health and Safety rules

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Educational Requirements: High School or equivalent

Minimum Experience/Field: Previous work experience would be an asset but not required

Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good written and verbal communication skills
