Lockheed Martin Canada is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support Halifax Class Frigate In-Service Support at Stadacona, Halifax. Responsibilities span requirements, design, integration, and testing across the system lifecycle, with security clearances required for sensitive military programs.

You will collaborate across disciplines to refine DOORS workflows, manage traceability, witness tests, and drive system integration planning while maintaining compliance with program objectives.

Principal Systems Engineer – Halifax Class Frigate In-Service Support
The candidate will support the Halifax Class Integrated Combat Systems In-Service Support program and will be required to work at Canadian Forces Base Stadacona, Halifax, once the Government of Canada has granted the necessary security clearances. They will work within a multidisciplinary team and carry out engineering tasks covering the entire system lifecycle: specification, design, development, integration and testing, deployment, maintenance and field troubleshooting.
The candidate will participate in engineering activities which may include:

• Daily management of the IBM Rational DOORS MD (Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System) repository: create and modify requirements modules, apply attribute sets, execute query-based reports, and apply version control best practices
• Capture links between requirements, design and test artifacts, maintaining full traceability from design to product launch
• Collaborate with test, engineering, software, and quality teams to refine workflows and DOORS models, ensuring alignment with global release and compliance objectives
• Witness testing
• Review test plans and test sheets
• Review tasks, preliminary design and detailed design as well as critical design review
• Perform structured design review
• Offer test and trial support
• Carry out needs analyses
• Conduct market research
• Define and monitor technical performance measures
• Work on system architecture and design
• Plan system integration
• Create the design document
• Apply systems engineering processes as well as best practices.

What you bring to the position

• Hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in a related discipline or equivalent co-op education, with at least five years of professional experience, OR at least three years of professional experience with a related master's degree
• Considerable experience defining, developing and maintaining the requirements of a complex real-time naval tactical command and control system
• Proven experience with software, systems, hardware or maintenance engineering lifecycle
• Solid knowledge of IBM Rational DOORS
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and oral communication; demonstrated ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable documentation
• Proficiency in requirements engineering fundamentals (traceability, impact analysis, change control)
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Ability to work well alone or in a team
• Ability to obtain a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) secret level security clearance.

$95,000 - $124,500
