The Role

The Principal Solution Consultant is responsible for delivering high-quality solutions and business outcomes based on AspenTech products. Demonstrating deep knowledge of solutions and offerings, capable of contributing to the design of comprehensive solutions throughout the project lifecycle—from pre-sales to design and delivery—the Principal Solution Consultant drives transformational results and aligns with business strategies for AspenTech customers.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a proven track record in software/technology sales or consulting. We seek candidates comfortable at the intersection of technology and business, capable of connecting technology with measurable business value. Broad competency in real-time databases/historians, batch historians, workflow management, analytics, infrastructure, and security is expected. Strong communication skills and enjoyment in engaging with customers are critical for this role.

Your Impact

  • Develop industry- and application-specific solutions for customers, leading value discovery sessions, assessing needs, and developing tailored solutions.
  • Understand prospective customers’ critical business issues to demonstrate AspenTech’s software capabilities as optimal solutions.
  • Build customer-specific solutions on the AspenTech platform using available tools.
  • Create robust recommendations, proposals, and scope of work documents for consulting engagements, identifying dependencies and gaps.
  • Advise customers on relevant AspenTech solutions and establish credible value propositions.
  • Develop and execute sales campaigns in collaboration with Sales teams.
  • Identify and qualify business opportunities, key technical challenges, and develop solutions to meet business needs.
  • Support pipeline development and sales execution through marketing, account planning, and strategy formulation.

What You'll Need

  • 8+ years of consulting, pre-sales, or professional services experience, especially in bulk chemicals, general chemicals, or specialty chemicals.
  • Experience with Aspen InfoPlus.21, Aspen Production Record Manager, Aspen Production Execution Manager, Aspen Cloud Connect, or OSIsoft PI.
  • Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing economics and ability to engage knowledgeably with potential customers about their plants and processes.
  • Drive to solve customer problems and convert pipeline opportunities into closed deals.
  • Balanced business and technical acumen, with the ability to articulate high-level solutions and their value.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to generate clear insights from customer data.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50%.
