Join us to build a more rewarding financial future for all Canadians

At Neo, we’re on a mission to build a more rewarding financial future for all Canadians. Life at a rapidly expanding tech startup isn’t for everyone. It’s complex, fast-paced, high-pressure, but also incredibly fulfilling. Since its founding in 2019, Neo has gained incredible traction and is one of the fastest-growing fintech companies in Canada.

  • LinkedIn’s Top Startup in Canada for 2022 and 2023
  • Top-ranked mobile apps and credit cards
  • Team of 700+ people
  • 1M+ customers

The Role

We’re hiring a Principal Product Designer to help set the vision, strategy, and craft across Neo Financial’s products.

This role works directly with Product, Engineering, and Design leadership to define what great looks like for our customer experiences, drive clarity in complex problem spaces, and ensure we’re building products that differentiate Neo in the market.

You’ll partner closely with cross-functional teams to explore and define new product opportunities, elevate design quality across teams, and push our design practice forward, balancing business goals, user needs, and execution excellence.

What you'll be doing:

  • Partner with product, business and engineering teams to define experience vision and product direction.
  • Lead the design of complex, multi-surface product experiences, helping simplify financial services for our customers.
  • Translate ambiguous problem spaces into clear, actionable design strategies and frameworks.
  • Explore new product concepts through prototyping, experimentation, and user validation.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to shape future product opportunities and inform roadmap decisions.
  • Guide and mentor other designers on approach, quality, and decision-making.
  • Ensure a high standard of design craft and attention to detail across all work.
  • Partner with research, content, and data teams to identify user needs, uncover insights, and define opportunities.
  • Advocate for user-centered solutions that balance business priorities with customer impact.

Who we are looking for:

  • 8+ years experience in product design, UX, or related fields, with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong background designing complex products and systems, ideally across multiple platforms and devices.
  • Excellent visual design craft, with an ability to balance aesthetics, usability, and scalability.
  • Deep experience with the end-to-end product design process, including discovery, journey mapping, flows, wireframing, prototyping, user testing, and high-fidelity execution.
  • Strong ability to simplify complexity, create clarity, and tell the story of your design decisions.
  • A portfolio showcasing high-quality work across diverse product spaces.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools
  • Experience collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other stakeholders.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving progress independently.
  • Systems thinking mindset, with ability to connect micro-interactions to holistic customer journeys.
