Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Principal Product Applications Engineer to support next-generation AI infrastructure and high-speed switching technologies. This customer-facing role will serve as a technical expert for Scorpio Smart Fabric Switches, working with hyperscalers, AI system builders, ODMs, and technology partners from initial architecture and evaluation through production deployment.

The role combines customer engineering, system integration, post-silicon validation, technical troubleshooting, and product development, with significant influence on future PCIe Gen 6/7 and UALink-based platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Enablement

  • Lead technical engagements with hyperscalers, ODMs, OEMs, and AI system partners.

  • Support customer architecture discussions, system design-in, evaluation, bring-up, and deployment.

  • Lead on-site and remote debugging, performance tuning, and system integration.

  • Translate customer requirements into actionable feedback for product, silicon, firmware, and engineering teams.

Post-Silicon Validation & Integration

  • Influence post-silicon validation strategies for next-generation switching platforms.

  • Execute system-level integration and troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.

  • Debug challenges involving PCIe Gen 6/7, UALink, UCIe, signal integrity, firmware, and software stacks.

  • Partner with hardware, firmware, and SI/PI teams to identify root causes and deliver production-ready solutions.

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the primary Scorpio applications expert across sales, marketing, product, and engineering functions.

  • Mentor junior applications engineers and provide technical guidance across customer projects.

  • Represent the organization at customer executive reviews, industry forums, and relevant standards bodies.

  • Develop technical collateral, white papers, training materials, and customer-facing documentation.

  • Contribute customer and technical insights that help shape product and technology roadmaps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • 8+ years of experience in product applications, systems engineering, or post-silicon validation involving high-speed connectivity or networking silicon.

  • Strong understanding of physical-layer technologies and high-speed serial interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, UALink, or UCIe.

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory bring-up, system debugging, and integration using oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers, or similar equipment.

  • Proven experience working directly with hyperscalers, cloud providers, Tier-1 OEMs, or ODMs.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear customer-facing solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Experience with PCIe Gen 6/7, UALink, or UCIe and related compliance testing.

  • Knowledge of AI/ML rack-scale architectures, GPU fabrics, and accelerator interconnects.

  • Python or shell scripting experience for validation, automation, and diagnostics.

  • Experience contributing to industry standards organizations such as PCI-SIG, UALink Consortium, or UCIe.

  • Technical publication, white-paper, or industry presentation experience.
