Your future role on our team
You will lead or participate in all phases of mining projects, from prefeasibility studies to commissioning, providing expertise and high-quality consulting services for our clients. You will be a key member of our multidisciplinary team, conducting high-tech process simulations and determining the equipment, tools, and processes.
Additionally, you will manage operational activities to support the department’s objectives on project delivery, growth, quality, and employee experience. As a Principal Engineer, you will participate in practice initiatives and foster a work environment where employees feel engaged and challenged.

- Work with a team of skilled engineers, designers, and project support staff to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to the expected quality standards.
- Manage cross-discipline teams to ensure cost-effective, safe, and timely project completion that exceeds client expectations.
- Review and approve process plant material balance, process design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, plant layouts, technical specifications, and evaluations.
- Prepare operating cost evaluations.
- Liaise with clients technically and present reports, publications, and presentations professionally.
- Manage resource planning and work assignment to team members.
- Coordinate internal/external training opportunities for employees.
- Lead performance management processes for team members.
- Ensure adherence to BBA’s 10 Golden Rules for health & safety and embed safety in all work activities.
- Champion BBA values.
Training component (15% of time)
- Plan and manage internal meetings with team members and external meetings with stakeholders or subcontractors.
- Identify and schedule internal/external training opportunities.
- Ensure effective information circulation within the team.
- Mentor young professionals within the group.
Business Development component (5 to 10% of time)
- Develop and maintain constructive business relationships during project execution to promote repeat business.
- Promote cross-services to existing clients.
- Support the promotion of BBA's Mining and Metals services internally and externally.
Corporate Component (5 to 10% of time)
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Mineral Processing & Extractive Metallurgy Group's strategies.
- Engage in innovation, new service development, and communication projects for the group.
- Assist the Department Manager with change management and communication of corporate initiatives.

Certifications and job requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer.
- Over 12 years of experience in relevant mining or metals operations and/or design.
- Expertise in metallurgical test work, crushing, grinding, flotation, hydrometallurgy, and related areas.
- Proven project success in the mining industry.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Experience with process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimMet, SysCAD).
- Excellent communication skills in English; French/Spanish is a plus.
- Additional assets include experience as a Qualified Person, process control, operations, or consulting experience, and innovative problem-solving skills.
