What We Offer
As the Principal Process Engineer, you provide continuous process engineering support to monitor, maintain, and improve unit operations to gain efficiency improvements, reduce costs, enhance sustainability, ensure stable operations, and maximize profitability. The Principal Process Engineer is a member of the local and global process engineering community for the technology of assigned units.
Major Responsibilities
- Monitor day-to-day unit operation, support and lead process troubleshooting efforts, and coordinate the resolution of technical process-related issues within the assigned units.
- Lead the continuous development of process technology and the optimization of multiple processing units. Responsible for all process improvement efforts and cost savings initiatives such as yield/quality improvements, waste reduction, throughput, energy savings, defect elimination, and other related activities. Lead teams for site-wide projects and initiatives.
- Provide technical expertise during unit HAZOPs, assessments, audits, incident reviews, etc., and ensure the safety concept of the unit is maintained or improved.
- Offer technical expertise for scope definition and be accountable for the technical acceptance of plant modifications, which may include small projects and mid-size/large projects, as appropriate. Ability to lead projects as needed.
- Maintain proficient knowledge of unit operations in assigned areas.
- Ensure the safety and reliability of units through technical improvements. Coordinate APC, AI, and DE efforts to reduce process variability and enhance reliability and cost efficiency.
- Support the Venture Manager on capital projects in the assigned area. Develop justification for capital investments and utilize available capital effectively to maximize benefits.
What You Offer
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field with 6+ years of experience, OR
- Master's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience, OR
- PhD in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of experience.
Must be eligible to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, or willingness to obtain Green Belt up to and including Black Belt certification.
- Broad knowledge of rotating and static equipment through experience, training, and self-study.
- SAP-Facility Asset Management competence.

- High level of organizational and process management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact across all organizational levels.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with ability to apply rigorous logic.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities across multiple units with multidisciplinary knowledge (Technology, PCT, Chemistry).
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis, Defect Elimination, and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis methodologies.
