Wood is recruiting for a Principal Open Pit Mining Engineer to join its Minerals and Metals business focusing on large mining projects. This opportunity is Hybrid.

The Role

We currently have an opportunity for a Principal Open Pit Mining Engineer. This position supports our global Mining Project Development team. Ideally, the engineer would be located in Vancouver, Canada, but location can be discussed and remote/hybrid work arrangements are possible. The role involves providing mine engineering and planning services, project management, and supervising team members to support open-pit mine projects.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain client relationships.
• Identify support opportunities for clients.
• Assist with proposal preparation.

Other Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and planning services.
• Manage projects to ensure timely, on-budget completion.
• Coordinate with other disciplines.
• Conduct site visits.
• Support cost estimating and scheduling.
• Maintain communication with clients and team members.
• Mentor junior staff.
• Participate in mining events and business development.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering.
• Professional registration in Canada or USA.
• 20+ years of experience in mining operations and engineering.
• Experience in open pit operations and design.
• Knowledge of industry standards (CIM, JORC, CRISCO, SME) and regulations (NI 43-101).
• Ability to act as a qualified person for reports.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Project and engineering management experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
