Position Overview

As a Principal Machine Learning Engineer at Autodesk, you will be responsible for leading, building, and deploying cutting-edge machine learning solutions that personalize and enhance the customer experience across our platforms. You will work with large-scale datasets, collaborate cross-functionally, and apply state-of-the-art techniques to deliver intelligent, scalable systems. This role emphasizes hands-on ML development and deployment using the AWS stack. You will collaborate with other teams in the Access domain, partnering with the Autodesk ML Platform team for tooling and infrastructure needs to deploy ML models and AI solutions for Access-related workflows and use cases. If you are technically savvy and want to lead ML/AI initiatives with direct customer and revenue impact, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities

  1. ML Model Development: Design and build scalable machine learning models using large datasets to provide personalized recommendations, predictions, and classifications. Architect and manage deployment for large-scale ML lifecycle on AWS, leveraging deep expertise to build scalable, secure, and cost-optimized solutions.

  2. End-to-End Data Pipeline & Deployment: Design, build, and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant data pipelines supporting the full ML lifecycle leveraging cloud services.

  3. Software Engineering: Write maintainable code using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Pandas, and XGBoost. Integrate ML pipelines into CI/CD workflows.

  4. Platform Scalability: Design and implement scalable inference services for real-time and batch use cases.

  5. Model Performance Optimization: Test and improve model accuracy, efficiency, and speed. Monitor model health and maintain automated retraining.

  6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with ML researchers, software engineers, product managers, architects, and operations teams to integrate ML into Autodesk products. Translate requirements into effective ML solutions.

  7. Productization of Research: Develop prototypes and reusable components to turn research into production-ready features.

  8. Ownership & Leadership: Lead deliverables, make key architectural decisions, and contribute to the evolution of Autodesk’s AI/ML platform.

  9. Knowledge Sharing: Stay updated with ML/AI trends, contribute to best practices and organizational learning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in building, deploying, and scaling ML models in production.

  • Strong proficiency in Python and ML libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Pandas, and XGBoost.

  • Good understanding of ML algorithms, statistical modeling, and data architecture.

  • Experience with AWS services, including SageMaker, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, S3, etc.

  • Ability to integrate ML pipelines into cloud-based systems and production applications.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

  • Technical Communication: Clearly present findings and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading ML projects in cross-functional teams.

  • Knowledge of responsible AI principles, including model explainability and fairness.

  • Understanding of compute infrastructure, distributed systems, and provisioning in cloud environments.
