Principal, Investment Risk - Private & Structured Credit

Overview

The Principal, Investment Risk - Private & Structured Credit plays a key role in shaping OTPP’s credit risk management practice, supporting analytical needs across investment and functional teams. This individual will have expert knowledge of credit transactions and exposures, market and liquidity risk implications, and will interact with various teams, particularly within the CCMR team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate and monitor creditworthiness of private debt and structured credit investments.
  2. Support proactive credit risk management and ensure proper reporting of risk exposures.
  3. Develop and maintain databases and dashboards for credit market monitoring.
  4. Engage with counterparties and co-investors, providing analysis and recommendations.
  5. Monitor market and regulatory developments, leading research and sharing insights.
  6. Represent OTPP in industry engagement and advocacy efforts.
  7. Understand OTPP’s credit agreements, implications, and risks.
  8. Provide timely and accurate information to senior leadership for decision-making.
  9. Support development of Board materials and promote best practices in credit risk management.
  10. Contribute to team strategy, business planning, and talent development.
  11. Lead or participate in cross-departmental committees and initiatives.
  12. Develop and implement risk measurement models and simulations.
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., mathematics, economics, finance, physics, engineering).
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in financial modeling, credit analysis, structured products, and related areas.
  • Proficiency with credit documentation and due diligence.
  • Experience with pricing, negotiating, and underwriting direct and derivative structures.
  • Experience in TMT, Healthcare, or Diversified Industries banking is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory landscape and governance.
  • Proven track record in operationalizing frameworks and influencing stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities under pressure.
  • Additional designations (e.g., CFA) and technical skills (C++, SQL, MATLAB) are assets.
