Job summary

WorleyParsons is seeking a Principal Instrumentation & Controls Engineer in Calgary, Alberta. The successful candidate will manage instrumentation engineering services and ensure compliance with specifications and budgets. Candidates must have extensive design experience in instrumentation and control and hold P.Eng. registration with APEGA.

This full-time position requires effective communication and the ability to work with stakeholders while managing the project scope and resolving discrepancies.

Reporting Manager Title: Director, Instrumentation Engineering

Responsibilities

• Manage instrumentation engineering services that meet Worley’s, its customers', and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
• Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and comply with required checking procedures.
• Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
• Provide advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities; e.g., oversee requisitions, technical bid evaluations and purchase order preparation.
• Outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, as appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress.
• Ensure the required services meet Worley, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
• Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.
• If required, assist and support junior personnel within the instrumentation & controls engineering team.
• Communicate effectively with the instrumentation & controls engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
• Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.

Technical and Industry Experience

• Knowledge of SAP (Systems Applications and Products) training system as well as KMS (Key Management System) system.
• Knowledge and experience of participation in HAZOP/LOPA.
• Understanding of scope impacts and delegation of work to be completed during TA or NTA.

Working knowledge of Instrumentation Calculation/Selection

• Level Measurement (Radar, Displacers, Gauges)
• Temperature (including Thermowells Freq. wake calculation)

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training

• Currently hold P.Eng. registration with APEGA
• Extensive experience in direct Instrumentation & Control design and engineering experience
• Accredited Bachelor's Degree in General Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
• Ability to design and interpret Instrumentation & Controls designs / schematics.
