Job description

Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest indigenous consultancies specialising in Sustainable Infrastructure, Circular Economy, Environment, Energy and Renewables. FT is currently recruiting a Principal Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Science team in either our Cork, Dublin or Carlow office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the continued growth of our environmental services, working collaboratively with a team of experienced professionals. This role offers diverse project exposure across a wide range of environmental sectors, including (but not limited to) planning and EIAR, waste management, infrastructure development, waste licensing and permitting, industrial emissions licensing and environmental due diligence.

Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing project teams, reporting directly to a Director.
  • Overseeing the project management and delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs), Appropriate Assessments (AAs), planning application documentation, and other environmental reports.
  • Providing expert technical guidance on environmental matters across the business.
  • Actively contributing to business development efforts and supporting growth initiatives.
  • Managing the execution and compliance of regulatory approvals throughout project lifecycles.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant environmental discipline.
  • 12-15 years of post-graduate experience in an environmental role.
  • Chartered status in relevant professional discipline.
  • Strong understanding of planning, environmental and waste management legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and in the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports, planning applications, and licence/permit applications across a broad range of projects.
  • Proven experience in team leadership and client management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Flexible, collaborative, and an effective team member.
  • Strong technical writing and report reviewing skills.
  • Experience liaising with external stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and sub-contractors.
  • Holds a full, clean driving licence.
