Job summary

BBA Consultants seeks a Principal Engineer, Renewable Energy to lead development of wind, solar and storage projects in Québec and across Canada, coordinating FEED and detailed engineering to meet schedule and budget.

You will mentor teams, manage development through design, permitting and execution, and interface with IPPs, utilities and regulators to advance high-impact solutions in a fast-growing sector.

Join BBA and put your experience to work by actively helping develop solutions for the power and renewables sector. We’re focused on enhancing our project development capabilities and front-end engineering and design (FEED) to complement our full engineering and design capabilities. As Principal Engineer, Renewable Energy, you’ll play a pivotal part in developing, interconnecting and implementing wind power and well as solar and battery energy storage projects, particularly in Québec, but also across Canada. This position offers a unique opportunity to participate in a rapidly growing industry while working in a fun, professional and exciting environment.

• Manage renewable power project mandates, from early development through to design, construction, commissioning and operations
• Work with independent power producers (IPPs), generation developers, power utilities and regulatory agencies to build strong technical solutions in the broader project context and foster strong, long-term relationships
• Manage delivery of project development engineering and FEED, focusing on value engineering and cost optimization while meeting project objectives
• Support responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), bringing creative ideas and strategic approaches to project development
• Manage delivery of detailed engineering projects
• Provide expertise and guidance to both BBA clients and project teams, including engineering, permitting and environment, and field services
• Help ensure projects meet key performance indicators, including costs, schedules, quality and client satisfaction
• Serve as project manager and/or technical mentor to BBA Consultants staff for select strategic projects and with specific clients
• Oversee internal teams for delivery and day-to-day execution of renewables projects
• Conduct technical reviews and oversee engineering and design activities within area(s) of expertise
• Perform daily execution of technical and strategic mandates based on areas of expertise and in coordination with BBA’s internal disciplines
• Prepare and deliver presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, clients and permitting agencies

Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in the renewables energy sector, and at least 15 years of experience in the power sector or comparable experience in engineering, project development and/or project management
• Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Québec
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements, codes, standards and best practices relevant to renewables projects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication, people and relationship-building skills
• High initiative and motivated self-starter
• Ability to manage a wide variety of tasks and to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic work setting
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed
• Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
• Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
