Story Behind the Need:

• Business group: Chassis & Service Engineering – platform organization for API services for the Bank, involved in the development and maintenance of tools and platforms that streamline the software development lifecycle, particularly for cloud-native applications.
• Project: – Cloud Acceleration Program – migration from Apigee Edge to Apigee X. – The candidate will collaborate closely with architects and Apigee/network/cloud engineers building the API gateway platform of the future at the bank, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.

Candidate Value Proposition:

• The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in facilitating the transition from Apigee Edge to Apigee X. Has extensive experiences in implementing Apigee based API solutions, setting up CI/CD pipelines and establish API development processes including infrastructure-as-Code. The candidate will collaborate closely with architects and Apigee/network/cloud engineers building the API gateway platform of the future at the bank, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.

Typical Day in Role:

• Infrastructure readiness of the Google API Management Tool (APIGEE X)
• Migrate the Apigee Edge workloads to ApigeeX
• Collaborate closely with architects and Apigee/network/cloud engineers building the API gateway platform of the future at the bank
• Performs technical analysis, design, build and deployment of highly complex / scalable API Platform.
• Establish and manage CI/CD pipelines for Apigee Proxy deployments and testing.
• Develop, support, and troubleshoot proxy flows, templates, and security features.
• Facilitate automations in migrating Apigee Edge deployments to Apigee X.
• Collaborate with vendors, internal and external teams to accomplish project success.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• 10+ years of relevant IT experience, with 5+ years as a Solutions Architect / Principal Engineer – with demonstrated experience creating logical architecture diagrams, with architecture review board sessions, and working with senior stakeholders
• 3+ years’ experience with hands-on API development, stack migration and back-end service side development
• Experience with Security, Access Controls (IAM/OAuth/SAML etc.), Network level controls (SSL, TLS etc.), Error handling
• Experience building and deploying CI/CD pipelines for cloud workloads using tools like Jenkins, GitHub actions and infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
• 3+ years’ experience with cloud architecture, components, and implementation use cases

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Experience with development in Apigee based API solutions, ApigeeX
• Experience with Enterprise Integration/Middleware Solutions
• Experience with GCP

Soft Skills Required:

• Good communication skills
• Team player
• Presentation skills

Education:

• Bachelors in technical field
• Any API products certifications an asset
• Cloud certifications an asset

Best VS. Average Candidate:

• Ideal candidate has strong API back-end development, API stack migration, Cloud experience, GCP a bonus. Has extensive experiences in developing Apigee based API solutions, setting up CI/CD pipelines and IaC, and establish API development processes. Need someone who is a strategic thinker, can make decisions and lead on those with confidence.
