Work Location

Downtown Toronto office. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

Purpose

The Commercial Due Diligence Lead will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating a cross-functional team of subject matter experts to conduct risk assessments and due diligence activities. This role is critical in providing strategic insights and ensuring that investment decisions are based on thorough analysis and evaluation of potential risks and opportunities.

The role location can be flexible to a BHP Exploration hub for the right candidate.

About the Role

In this role you will :

  • Lead and coordinate a cross-functional team of subject matter experts from various departments (e.g. finance legal compliance) and various exploration team to conduct due diligence assessments.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members to achieve due diligence & transaction objectives.
  • Develop and manage project plans timelines and deliverables to ensure timely completion of due diligence processes.
  • Execute the due diligence process consistent with the Exploration due diligence procedures
  • Identify and prioritize key areas of risk and opportunity to be assessed during the due diligence process.
  • Oversee the collection analysis and synthesis of relevant data and information from various sources.
  • Ensure the accuracy completeness and integrity of due diligence findings and reports.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments identifying potential legal operational reputational regulatory and strategic risks associated with the investment opportunity.
  • Evaluate the target companys financial health market position competitive landscape and operational capabilities.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive and clear due diligence reports including detailed risk assessments and recommendations to senior management and decision-makers.
  • Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to support informed investment findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices regulatory changes and emerging trends related to due diligence and risk assessment.
  • Continuously improve due diligence processes methodologies and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
About You
  • Bachelors degree in Finance Business Law or a related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in due diligence risk assessment investment analysis or related fields.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to coordinate and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Compensation

The starting annual salary range for this role is $140000 - 170000 CAD. Additional rewards includes a short-term incentive bonus program health plan personal spending account dental life insurance and pension.
