Role

Ethoca is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead our data platform growth across our product suite of solutions and technology landscape. This senior role is visible and critical as part of a high performing team. It will appeal to you if you have a strong combination of domain knowledge, relevant experience, and execution ability.

You will bring cutting-edge data engineering, data lake expertise, and software development experience with extensive cloud architecture background. You will be hands-on and capable of driving solutions and architecture to build and support our products. You will own this – our teams are small, agile, and focused on the needs of the high-growth fintech marketplace. We are committed to making our systems resilient, responsive, and easily maintainable.

You will drive architectural design, including dependent services, service interactions, and policies, while owning the development of data applications, services, and scaling the data platform in the cloud. Maintaining and scaling existing applications and platforms is imperative, with attention to detail in configuration, maintenance, security, and reliability across environments.

• Hands-on responsibility for data architecture across environments with the ability to write high-quality, secure, modular, functional, and testable code.
• Design and build technology roadmaps to optimize services focusing on performance, security, and cost/benefit.
• Implement tools that enable both internal and external customers.
• Lead and contribute to the data and software platform and data warehouse development lifecycle.
• Optimize performance across physical and logical dimensions.
• Support architects and engineers in designing effective, agile applications and platforms.
• Work within high-security environments, including PII and PCI-DSS compliance.

All About You

• Extensive experience in complex, scalable data and application architectures, working with large cross-functional teams.
• Deep experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Cosmos, Postgres, etc.), preferably in Azure, serving as a technical SME.
• Hands-on experience with data science, ML, and deployment in cloud environments.
• Proficiency with cloud technologies, micro-service design, DevOps, and NoSQL databases.
• Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, NodeJS, Java, JavaScript, etc.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or similar technologies in cloud platforms.

Preferred experience in banking, e-commerce, credit cards, or payment processing, with exposure to SaaS and on-prem architectures.
