Job description

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Responsible Mining and Metals Supply Chains to join our team. The successful candidate will work on challenging projects for clients across various industry sectors, primarily focused on the mining/metals supply chain.

This role involves project management, delivery, and collaboration with ERM’s senior leadership to advance go-to-market activities. Over time, responsibilities will increase to include managing tasks, teams, projects, and clients. This position offers an excellent career growth opportunity within management consulting and technical expert teams.

We envision this individual being based in Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, or Vancouver, with some flexibility. The work involves supporting local, national, and international clients with complex business needs. Some travel for internal meetings and client engagements is required, with potential for international travel, but it is not expected to be extensive.

Responsibilities:
  • Guide work processes to design, implement, and improve enterprise-wide management systems, programs, policies, and standards, focusing on the mining/minerals supply chain.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Responsible Mining Standards and frameworks such as IRMA, TSM, ASI, The Copper Mark, RMI, ICMM, ResponsibleSteel, among others.
  • Maintain strong technical knowledge of mineral supply chain due diligence, emerging legislation, and stakeholder initiatives.
  • Interact with clients through interviews at various organizational levels, deliver presentations, training, and facilitate workshops.
  • Leverage auditing and assurance experience to understand due diligence, accreditation, and management systems.
  • Manage multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule, ensuring quality standards.
  • Analyze complex data and trends, distilling them into clear summaries and executive insights.
  • Contribute to demand analysis, service development, go-to-market strategies, and proposals.
  • Maintain and cultivate client relationships, staying informed on trends in environment, health, safety, and sustainability fields.
  • Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, and excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 6-8 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of creating clear deliverables for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in corporate strategy, organizational design, or process optimization.
  • Industry experience with mining or metals supply chains.
  • Data analysis and visualization skills preferred.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects, and travel as needed.
  • Flexibility and independence in work style.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline related to ESG risks in mining; MBA or postgraduate degree preferred.
Additional Preferred Skills:
  • Lead Auditor/Practitioner status in ISO 14001, SA 8000, APSCA, CSCA preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish or French, both written and spoken.
  • Professional experience in jewelry, refiners/smelters, or mining industries.

The annual base salary is estimated at $111,763 – $139,243 CAD, based on various factors including experience, location, and qualifications. The role may include bonus eligibility.
