Principal Consultant - Production Support

Inviting applications for the role of Principal Consultant, Production Support (Python+Unix_SQL)
In this role, you will be responsible for coding, testing and delivering high quality deliverables, and should be willing to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

1. You will spend considerable time on production management, inclusive of incident and problem management, capacity management, monitoring, event management, change management, and plant hygiene.
2. Troubleshooting issues across the entire technology stack: hardware, software, application, and network.
3. Participating in on-call rotation and periodic conference calls with other specialists from other time zones.
4. Proactively identifying and addressing system reliability risks.
5. Working closely with development teams to design, build, and maintain systems from a reliability, stability, and resiliency perspective.
6. Identifying and driving opportunities to improve automation for our platforms; scope and create automation for deployment, management, and visibility of our services.
7. Representing the RPE organization in design reviews and operational readiness exercises for new and existing products/services.

Minimum Qualifications

1. BE/B Tech/MCA
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

1. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems and debug to identify root cause on large-scale distributed applications across multiple layers, i.e., software, infrastructure, and database.
2. Strong scripting skills, like Perl, Python, or UNIX shell.
3. Hands-on experience with enterprise tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Apice.
4. Hands-on experience of UNIX/Linux system support and cloud-based services.
5. Experience with Ansible, GitHub, or any automation/configuration/release management tools.
6. Automation-related experience is particularly valued using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, or Ruby. One higher-level language is desired.
7. Awareness of, and ability to reason about modern software and systems architectures, including load-balancing, databases, queuing, caching, distributed systems failure modes, microservices, cloud, etc.
8. Creating stored procedures and optimizing SQL in Sybase or DB2.
9. Experience with Azure Networks, Service Bus, Azure Virtual Machines, and Azure SQL will be an advantage.
