Lead the Future of Responsible Resource Development Across Canada

Shape the projects that power communities, support responsible resource development, and leave a lasting legacy. ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Capital Project Delivery to join our team in Canada. This is a unique opportunity for a senior-level leader to leverage deep resource development expertise, trusted industry relationships, and strategic consulting experience to guide complex capital projects across their full life cycle, from planning and approvals through implementation, mine closure, and transition planning. In this highly visible role, you will provide technical and strategic leadership, oversee multidisciplinary project delivery, drive business growth, and help clients navigate the evolving challenges of resource development, socioeconomic planning, stakeholder engagement, Indigenous engagement, mine closure, and mine transition planning. As a representative of a global sustainability leader, you will play a critical role in advancing ERM's strategy while delivering meaningful outcomes for clients, communities, and the environment.

Why This Role Matters?

Resource development projects today demand more than technical expertise. Success requires balancing environmental stewardship, community expectations, Indigenous engagement, regulatory requirements, and long‑term economic outcomes.

As a Principal Consultant, Capital Project Delivery, you will help clients develop and advance major capital projects while ensuring responsible project execution and sustainable development practices. Your leadership will influence strategic decision‑making, strengthen client relationships, support the growth of ERM's mining and resource development practice, and contribute to some of the most significant resource development initiatives across Canada and globally.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them through complex challenges while helping shape responsible development strategies that create lasting value for businesses, communities, and stakeholders.

What Your Impact Is:
  • Lead and support complex resource development projects related to capital project development, social and environmental assessments and permitting, mine closure planning, and mine transition planning.
  • Provide expert guidance on stakeholder and Indigenous engagement programs and social impact assessments.
  • Support clients in navigating complex regulatory processes and project approvals.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key resource development sector clients while identifying new opportunities for growth.
  • Mentor and develop consultants, helping build the next generation of professionals.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams across Canada and globally to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions.
  • Contribute to ERM's continued growth and leadership within the global resource development sector.
  • Deliver projects that support responsible resource development and create positive outcomes for communities and stakeholders.
What You'll Bring:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, science, economics, social science, public policy, or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience, including industry experience and/or stakeholder/Indigenous engagement in Canada, or a related position with a resource development company to understand operational needs.
  • Experience in mine closure planning, particularly the development of strategic closure goals, closure objectives, and associated criteria.
  • Experience supporting the environmental approval and permitting process for capital projects (i.e., new developments or expansions).
  • Experience planning, organizing, and implementing stakeholder engagement activities, including open houses, interviews, virtual forums, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations and training sessions, and leading/facilitating discussions with small and large groups of diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting third‑party reviews against industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and corporate standards.
  • Strong project management skills, including development of work plans, budgets, schedules, and project controls.
  • Well‑developed team‑building skills and demonstrated experience working with diverse teams, including mentorship and/or line management of junior staff.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established health and safety protocols.
  • Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
Preferred
