We are looking for a Primary Healthcare Nurse to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at Chatham Medical Centre, in Chatham, Kent.
This is a locum role (37.5 hours per week), and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to MoD service personnel.
Pay rate:
PAYE – £21.85 per hour
Umbrella - £25.13 per hour
Job Description:
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team under Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC), delivering Primary Health Care (PHC) services and aspects of Occupational Health and Health Promotion to the Defence Medical Services (DMS) entitled Population at Risk (PAR).
- Responsible to the Senior Medical Officer / Lead Clinician / Senior Nurse, providing routine clinics as directed to meet organisational and PAR needs.
- Develop and implement local care/service delivery programmes within scope of practice; conduct electronic searches and audits for quality improvement.
- Supervise untrained staff within the practice under guidance of senior staff, within individual scope of practice.
- Complete all mandatory training as per DPHC guidelines for locums, agency staff, and service personnel.
- Maintain patient safety and support healthcare governance activities.
- Obtain training and demonstrate competence to issue medications via Patient Group Directives (PGDs) and Patient Specific Directions (PSDs), as per policy and guidance.
- Provide basic ward-based nursing care within a DPHC bedded-down facility if required.
Essential Requirements / Qualifications / Experience:
- Registered Nurse (Adult) Level 1 with NMC, with a valid PIN and no restrictions.
- Current, valid personal medical indemnity insurance.
- Minimum of one year’s post-registration experience in a primary healthcare setting within the last three years, at Band 5 or higher.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, AED, and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) certifications.
- Experience with Medical Early Warning Systems (MEWS) for deteriorating patients.
- Completed Immunisation and Vaccination Foundation Training with certification or proven competency within the last 12 months.
- Up-to-date immunisation and vaccination training, including for young children if applicable.
- Venepuncture training with certification or proven competency within the last three years.
- Safeguarding Children and Adults Level 3 training with certification.
