Job description

Oliver Health Centre has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Primary Health Care Registered Nurse specializing in Rural & Remote Adult Mental Health & Substance Use. This position will be working at four different Primary Care Clinics: Desert Doctors, Bridgeside Medical, Osoyoos Medical Centre, and Osoyoos Indian Band Health Centre.

Hours of work: Rotating days, Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 16:30.

Days off: Sunday, Saturday, and Statutory Holidays.

About The Role: The Primary Care Nurse practices according to the standards of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). The role involves working within an interprofessional team to provide comprehensive nursing care across various settings, including primary care, virtual, community, outreach, and home care.

Primary Care services may include, but are not limited to, primary care networks, urgent and episodic care, sexual health, women and children’s health, maternity, mental health, substance use, and rural/remote care.

The nurse delivers client and family-centered care through health promotion, prevention, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The focus is on providing accessible, holistic, and culturally safe health services, responding to changing healthcare needs, and promoting health and well-being.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, evidence-based practice, Indigenous knowledge, and health equity. The nurse builds trusting relationships, promotes self-determination, and supports clients in navigating the healthcare system.
