Primary Care Physician, CFB Yellowknife (Part-time or Full-time, Temporary Role)

Calian is proud to continue a long-standing contractual relationship with the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide healthcare services to the Canadian Armed Forces. Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs healthcare professionals across Canada who support the health and wellbeing of military members.

Job Type: Full Time, Part Time

Position Overview: Calian is seeking a full-time Primary Care Physician at CFB Yellowknife. Clinic hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4 pm. Part-time availability is accepted. This temporary position is expected to last until March 31, 2026, with a possibility of extension.

Physicians are essential members of the healthcare team, providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary primary health care services to Canadian Armed Forces members. These services include primary care, minor trauma care, health promotion, disease prevention, rehabilitation, and support services.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive health assessments and synthesize data to diagnose diseases or disorders.
• Manage patient care within scope of practice, including monitoring therapy for chronic stable illnesses with effective pharmacological, complementary, or counseling interventions.
• Implement health promotion and illness prevention strategies.
• Conduct periodic health exams and assess fitness for patients facing acute or chronic illnesses.
• Make appropriate medical employment limitation recommendations.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team and consult with other health professionals to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• Licensed and in good standing with the Northwest Territories Professional Licensing, Health and Social Services.
• Certification in Family Medicine with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP).
• Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C Certification.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level.
• CF Basic Aviation and Dive Medicine Certification is an asset but not mandatory.
