Job summary

Medavie Health Services West (MHSW) in Central Alberta seeks a Paramedic to provide emergency medical services, evaluate patients, transport to appropriate facilities, and maintain high safety standards.

You will document care in ePCRs, work with agencies, and participate in ongoing education and QA activities as part of a professional EMS team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Alberta Operators License class 1, 2 or 4.
  • Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
  • Completion of Alberta Health Services MCP’s.
  • FARE Certificate required.

Responsibilities

  • Emergency and Response: Maintain knowledge to deliver optimum patient care.
  • Safely operate MHS-West vehicles per guidelines and regulations.
  • Stock and maintain vehicles in readiness at all times.
  • Work in hazardous environments to ensure patient safety and stabilization.
  • Document patient care, assessments, and skills in the patient care report (ePCRs).
  • Be punctual and ready to respond at the start of shift.
  • Act professionally and handle conflicts with good judgment.
  • Follow the MHS-West chain of command.
  • Create and maintain completed patient care reports and maintain confidentiality.
  • Refer media requests to the General Manager and report incidents via forms.
  • Develop continuing education requirements as required by Alberta College of Paramedics.
  • Maintain awareness of Operational Guidelines and medical control guidelines.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and plan for self-directed growth.
  • Demonstrate physical ability to lift and extricate patients and communicate hazards.
