On a Core Flex Truck

The PCP provides immediate treatment and transportation to medical facilities, requiring professionalism, communication, and knowledge. Conduct yourself safely and discreetly, maintaining accountability to patients, colleagues, and management.

Duties and Tasks
  • Maintain knowledge and skills per the Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP).
  • Operate MHS - West vehicles safely according to policies and regulations.
  • Ensure vehicles are stocked and ready at all times.
  • Work safely in hazardous environments to stabilize patients.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies for patient care.
  • Document patient care accurately and promptly.
  • Be punctual and prepared for shifts.
  • Handle conflict professionally.
  • Follow the chain of command.
Communication
  • Create and maintain complete patient care reports (ePCRs).
  • Maintain confidentiality per regulations.
  • Refer media requests to the General Manager.
  • Report incidents in writing to the Director or designate.
Education
  • Meet continuing education requirements of the Alberta College of Paramedics.
  • Stay aware of operational and medical control guidelines.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance programs.
  • Plan for ongoing professional growth.
Physical Ability
  • Be in good health, capable of lifting heavy patients and extricating patients from hazards.
  • Report injuries affecting duties.
Public Relations
  • Participate in community education programs.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and hygiene standards.
Safety Hazards
  • Exposure to violence, traffic hazards, diseases, invasive devices, and extreme weather.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or G.E.D., Alberta Operators License class 1, 2, or 4, current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics, completion of Alberta Health Services MCPs, CPR certification, and FARE certificate.

For Lloydminster positions, registration with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics is required.
