PROFILE

This individual will be responsible for providing analytical support to the pricing team and legal project management (LPM) function.

This person can be based in any of our Ontario offices!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide analytical support to the Pricing and LPM team to assist with day-to-day special rate approvals
  • Support the client and matter rate renewal process through data-driven analysis.
  • Maintain a database of all existing approved pricing agreements and fee proposals, including special rates and other Alternative Fee Arrangements (AFA) structures. Prepare quarterly reports for management based on database information.
  • Assist with matter tagging of AFAs at matter opening to ensure proper tracking and reporting in Aderant.
  • Deliver financial and profitability analysis on pricing proposals, historical client portfolio activity, and current matter performance.
  • Collaborate closely with the Legal and Proposals teams on Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for both new and existing clients.
  • Leverage Excel, Power Pivot, Power BI, and other tools to develop analytical reports that support matter management, alternative fee structures, and related initiatives.
  • Assist with budget updates in Aderant and Excel, and support the legal team in tracking budgets as needed — such as monitoring WIP against estimated budgets or capped fees.
  • Perform rate-related analysis to assist the legal team on rate negotiations aligned with overall pricing strategies, and undertake other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in math, finance or accounting, with 1-3 years of financial analysis experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is also acceptable. Experience in a law firm or professional services organization is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a demonstrated ability to deliver practical, data-driven insights.
  • Proficiency in Excel is required; experience with Microsoft SQL, Power Pivot, Power BI is considered an asset.
  • Track record of producing quality analytical output with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong emphasis on delivering exceptional client service.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities; able to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to efficiently multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Working towards a finance professional designation such as CPA or CFA is an asset.
  • Experience in project management is an asset.
