Job summary

Battlefield Equipment Rentals is seeking a Preventative Maintenance Technician Level 1 in Charlottetown, PEI. You will perform daily maintenance, inspections, and quality checks on rental equipment, ensuring safety and reliability on our fleets.

The role requires hands-on mechanical work, some lifting, and collaboration with the service team to meet branch goals. We value an apprentice mindset, strong time management, and excellent communication.

As a key member of the Service team, the Preventative Maintenance Technician Level 1 plays a vital role in keeping our rental fleet and customer equipment operating safely, reliably, and effectively.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Clean, wash, and inspect rental construction equipment as part of daily operations.
• Complete quality assurance inspections to ensure equipment is safe, complete, and in proper working condition.
• Test and operate construction equipment, assessing condition and identifying damage or issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and routine servicing.
• Maintain and update required documentation, inspections, and data entry accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, yard, and branch areas.
• Load and unload customer rental equipment as required.
• Assist other technicians and service team members as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support branch operations.
• Collaborate seamlessly with your colleagues to create a supportive and efficient work environment.
• Follow all workplace safety protocols and environmentally sound practices, making sure everyone stays safe.

What We're Looking For

• Mechanical Experience: Knowledge of basic mechanical principles and experience doing preventative maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter changes, breaks, lines etc.
• Apprentice Mindset: A genuine interest in learning and developing new skills.
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team environment with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision.
• Independent Worker: Ability to work independently with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Endurance: Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly up to 50lbs.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel.) Experience with Systematics and labor tracking systems would be an asset.
• Safety Focused: A strong commitment to safe work practices, environmental responsibility, and Battlefield’s health and safety policies.
• Customer Service Oriented: Excellent communication skills and a knack for making customers feel valued.
• Experience Operating Forklifts
