Job summary

Enervac Corporation is seeking a skilled Pressure Vessel Welder for onsite work in Canada. You will weld, fabricate and assemble pressure vessels and piping to ASME or TSSA codes, using SMAW, MIG, or TIG.

The role requires reading blueprints and performing quality checks, with regular maintenance of shop equipment and a focus on safety. The position offers a Monday–Friday shift, 5:30am–2:00pm, with a competitive hourly rate and benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; able to read, write and follow verbal instructions in English.
  • 3+ years of welding and fitting experience on vessels using TIG or MIG per ASME/TSSA codes.
  • Certifications in 1G and 2G; 4G+ is a plus.
  • Able to read blueprints and technical specifications; work under supervision as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Weld various metals to code requirements for pressure vessels and piping.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment; ensure specified tolerances.
  • Inspect finished work and perform routine maintenance on equipment.

Job description

A Pressure Vessel Welder is a skilled tradesperson who specializes in welding, fabricating, and assembling pressure vessels, vacuum vessels, components, and associated piping systems. These vessels are designed to hold or contain pressurized liquids or gases safely, making the welder's role crucial for maintaining the structural integrity and safety of these systems.

Pay Range: Competitive salary at $30-40/hr


Work Location: Onsite


Shift: Monday – Friday 5:30am-2:00pm


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Weld a variety of metals, such as carbon steel, stainless steel, etc. to Pressure Vessel and Pressure Piping Code requirements.

  • Weld components of products, such as piping, pressure vessels, structural components (skids or braces), vacuum chambers, vacuum vessels, tanks, filter housings, heater housings, etc. as specified by blueprints, work order, welding procedures or traveler, using SMAW, MIG or TIG processes to specified accuracy and tolerances.

  • Cut metal pipe/carbon steel using band saw and/or plasma torch gun.

  • Set-up and operate welding and other equipment utilized in the qualified weld and fabrication areas. Qualification is based on ability, training and experience.

  • Visual inspection of product to ensure it has not been damaged or deteriorated during handling, storage, packaging or shipping.

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance as required to maintain equipment in top operational order.

  • Utilize small and large hand tools, hoists, dollies and other devices when necessary.

  • Train to fit and fabricate parts for various product lines if necessary.

  • Fit and fabricate products for various product lines, steel weldments, vacuum vessels, filter housings, etc. in the division independently.

  • Ensure accurate completion of work orders, requisitions and other documentation.

  • Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.

  • Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.

  • Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.

  • Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.

  • Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.

  • Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.

  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned


Required Experience and Education


  • High school diploma or equivalent. Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.

  • 3+ yearsTSSA or ASME welding and fitting experience using TIG or MIG on vessels and components designed to ASME or TSSA Pressure Vessel andPressure PipingCodes.

  • Previous certification in 1G, 2G positions (minimum).

  • Previous certification in 4G and higher positions a plus.

  • Perform previous work in accordance with Company's quality control system and welded joints subjected to NDE.

  • Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications.

  • Ability to handle routine projects and tasks under moderate supervision.

  • Ability to handle non-routine, standard projects and tasks.


Physical and Technical Environment


  • Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, using proper lifting techniques or other available resources such as lifting or moving equipment or help from another employee.

  • Required to wear impact goggles, face shield and hearing protection when using handheld grinders.

  • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs.

  • Regularly required to walk or stand, bend or twist, climb, reach with hands or arms.

  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Clean and orderly manufacturing environment, some exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards.

  • Overtime required at periodic intervals to respond to project deadlines.

  • Exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis.

  • Exposure to machines and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards.
