Job summary

Magna Powertrain in Ontario is seeking a skilled press operator to join a fast‑paced production team. You will operate presses, vibra deburring, and part washers, ensuring parts meet specifications and production targets.

You will complete quality documentation, perform TPM inspections, and assist in training new operators. A valid forklift and crane license, strong English communication, and adherence to 5S and safety standards are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• Strong command of the English language (verbal and written).
• Ability to use basic and advanced measuring equipment.
• Knowledge of TS 16949 / ISO 14001 / WHMIS.
• Valid forklift and crane operator licenses.
• Confined space - / Lock‑out / Tag‑out and WHMIS training.
• SPC Level 1.
• Experience in a press environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Compensation: $25 per hour Hiring Shift: Night PRIMARY FUNCTION
• Ensures that material, tools and packaging are in place and ready for production
• Operate scheduled production equipment on a daily basis
• Operate production equipment and ensure that production targets are met
• Perform inspection of product produced by following internal and external established requirements a (using standard and advanced measuring equipment)
• Complete quality documentation as per internal and external requirements
• Perform TPM inspection and communicate open issues thru internal documentation
• Participate in continuous improvement
• Participate in the team environment and communicate issues with production support
• Train new operators on equipment
• Responsible for area housekeeping and upkeep of presses, process centers, confined spaces etc.
• Operates equipment according to training matrix
• Ensure that crane inspection checklist is being completed before usage and applicable certificates are current
• Complete changeovers as per of the team and setup bolsters with the next scheduled dies
• Perform minor adjustments without assistance

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum Grade 12 education
• Strong command of the English language (verbal and written) process -, tooling improvements
• Sound knowledge of statistical techniques to identify process improvements opportunities
• Ability to use basic and advanced measuring equipment
• Good documentation and organizational skills
• Strong command of the English language (verbal and written)
• Working knowledge of TS 16949, ISO 14001 systems and WHIMS
• Valid Forklift and Crane Operator license
• Confined space - / Lock‑out / Tag‑out and WHIMIS training
• SPC Level 1
• Advanced knowledge of presses including vibra machines and part washers
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a press environment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITITES

• Basic equipment operation including start up and shut down of equipment within the process center (press, vibra deburr, part washer)
• Operating production equipment and produce parts to outlined requirements by using the tools provided (quality and quantity)
• Must be willing to upgrade skills through on the job training
• Perform die setup / press change over according to schedule
• Complete all production and quality documentation on time and as per requirement
• Ensure that the machine has a valid first off prior to start of operation
• Perform part inspection by using equipment outlined in the inspection and record results as per the outlined requirements
• Pack product according to the packaging instructions
• Follow standardized work instructions
• Produce parts to close tolerances, specifications, on time to ensure high productivity and part quality
• Follow ANDON system(Press the button for help on Shoplogix Whiteboard) to call Team leader/Supervisor, if Stop operation for any reason(i.e. Safety, Quality, tooling, maintenance, and leaving work cell for any reason)
• Ensure that process center is clean at all times, follow downtime GAP PLAN as per 5S standard
• Train new operators on equipment, tooling and product according to requirements
• Perform TPM inspection
• Perform machine setups and first off’s as schedule
• Complete and verify changeover checklist and ensure that all aspects are completed before running
• Able to maintain and adjust all press controls
• Ensure that error proofing devices are working and that abnormal conditions are being communicated to your Supervisor (double blank detection, press force monitoring)
• Communicate changes with fellow employees and Supervisors
• Actively participate in all areas of Continuous improvement
• Identify and update any preventative maintenance requirements using maintenance repair log
• Ensure that all safety devices are in place and operational
• Participate in the setup and problem solving in regards to new tooling

SAFETY

Observes all legislative requirements including but not limited to Section 27 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act work in the manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by the Act and the regulations use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that Pullmatic Mfg. requires to be used or worn Advises workers of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the worker of which you are aware of Takes every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection. Ensures that safe working procedure as per 5S are adhered to at all times Follows ISO 14001, 45001 and Health & Safety policies Assist in creating modified jobs when required (Physical Demands Analysis) Corrects unsafe acts and conditions on a timely basis Ensures the department is kept clean, orderly and safe at all times
