Job Description: Press Brake Field Service Technician - Cleveland, OH

DESCRIPTION:

As a Press Brake Service Technician, you will utilize customer communication skills, mechanical, and electrical knowledge to repair, troubleshoot, modify, and test complex technical problems on Mitsubishi Machining products. This position involves travel from Monday through Friday, with weekends off. Travel is mostly regional, and technicians typically stay in nearby hotels. Travel includes primarily within the US and Canada, with potential international assignments. Services are provided on-site at customer facilities and via telephone when appropriate. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Travel to customer locations to diagnose and repair complex technical problems on-site.
  2. Examine machines mechanically and electrically, performing repairs by dismantling and rebuilding as needed.
  3. Diagnose technical issues and troubleshoot via telephone when necessary.
  4. Communicate professionally and effectively with customers.
  5. Interpret schematics and block diagrams to analyze and troubleshoot problems.
  6. Document product problems and resolutions in detail.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools.
  • Proficiency in operating Windows-based computers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Valid driver’s license.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates or technical degree.
  • Experience with electrical measurement and inspection techniques (e.g., voltmeter, oscilloscope).
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical components (ball screws, bearings, gearing, etc.).
  • Experience with mechanical measurement and inspection tools (indicators, micrometers, gage blocks, optical comparators). Laser Interferometer and ball bar experience a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mainly indoor work, with exposure to weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, sun, and wind. Work involves proximity to moving mechanical parts with moderate to loud noise levels. Extensive driving and overtime work are common. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver’s license are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequent bending, twisting, standing, kneeling, and repetitive hand use. Lifting and carrying weights from 1 to over 50 pounds, with the use of handcarts or other devices as needed. Good visual acuity is essential.
