The Canadian Gas Association seeks a dynamic President & CEO to passionately lead the organization in representing Canada's natural gas delivery industry. The ideal candidate will possess strategic leadership skills and foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders while driving policy initiatives and enhancing the sector's standing.
Location: Ottawa, Canada
Founded in 1907, The Canadian Gas Association (CGA) is the voice of Canada’s natural gas delivery industry, and its members are distribution companies, transmission companies, equipment manufacturers and other service providers. Natural gas has a central and growing place in Canada’s energy mix meeting nearly 40 per cent of the country’s energy needs. In homes, apartments, buildings, businesses, industrial applications, vehicles, hospitals and schools, customers representing two-thirds of Canadians rely on natural gas for a multitude of energy needs.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO will develop and execute a bold, compelling vision that inspires CGA members, the Board, and staff. As a key spokesperson for the industry, the CEO will champion initiatives that position the CGA as the leading authority on trade, economic, and public policy issues related to the natural gas utility sector, shaping policy, regulatory, and legislative development accordingly. The CEO will lead and oversee CGA staff and resources, and maintain critical liaison with members, federal and provincial government agencies and departments, representatives from other industries, and related national and international associations.
As the ideal CEO, you are an engaging and strategic leader with strong collaborative and consultative skills, administrative leadership, government relations expertise, and a demonstrated interest in and commitment to supporting the efforts of the CGA and its members. You are a strong communicator with the ability to express ideas clearly, effectively, and proficiently to others orally, in writing, and through speeches and presentations. This includes being able to articulate and implement a vision for the Canadian natural gas utility sector and the CGA, and to enthusiastically convey the bright future of the sector as a vital part of the economy and a great place to work. Peers would describe you as a consensus builder, with the ability to develop and maintain highly effective relationships and exercise appropriate political astuteness, in a highly regulated environment, with diverse groups including the Board, members, senior government officials, partners, etc., to achieve mutual goals. Additionally, at minimum, you have working knowledge of economic regulation, regulated utilities, and the natural gas utility sector. Bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
