Job description

ePac Flexible Packaging is a rapidly growing digital printing company with locations across the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Oceania. ePac’s mission is to provide locally-based consumer packaged goods companies the ability to compete with large brands with great packaging.


Note : This is a 100% On-site Position. There is no work from home provision

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Prepress Coordinator position receives digital files from customers and provides customer service to ensure that proofs and files are ready for print. Develops procedures and prepares artwork for production.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with the HP Indigo 20000/25000 press operator(s) on matters involving quality and scheduling.
  • Receives digital files from customers and provides customer service on whether or not those files are correct or if more information is needed
  • Prepares and sends proofs
  • Prepares files for print, enters job ticket information online
  • Reviews incoming jobs to determine the level of design and/or pre-press work required.
  • Communicates with the prepress department to determine the cost and schedule of work required to complete each job.
  • Communicates with customers keeping them apprised of job status.
  • Follows quality requirements to meet or exceed specifications.
  • Applies trap and color correction to art files, performs color separation, assigns necessary screening, steps art according to press layout, and generates press-ready files for production.
  • Produces color-accurate contract proofs according to customer and press specifications.
  • Creates mockups, 3D drawings, special proofs, etc. for customers as requested.
  • Analyzes incoming graphics for printability, separation issues, brand color concerns, Pantone matching, ink sequence and any foreseeable printing issues. Documents the issues and possible solutions, and then notifies the appropriate people.
  • Shares prepress knowledge and techniques as well as job-specific information with Digital Press Operators and other Prepress Coordinators.
  • Works with a team to develop procedures and workflows relevant to the prepress area.
  • Demonstrates appropriate attitude in all dealings with co-workers, customers, and suppliers.
  • Helps with estimating and quoting; Answers phones and customer inquiries
  • Support other parts of the operations & performs other tasks as and when required

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Deep and demonstrated working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite & other programs
  • Strong working knowledge of file and color conversion, imposition, composition, proof and press alignment
  • Excellent understanding of color management
  • Strong working knowledge of: proof-to-press matching, spectrophotometry, hard proofing and soft proofing
  • Experience with digital printing on flexible packaging substrates
  • Attention to detail; Flexibility; Adaptability; Communication skills; Trouble shooting/problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of file transfer systems

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferred
  • At least 2 years in prepress, file and/or color profiling and print file preparation
  • Strong working knowledge of digital print processes and DFEs (HP Production Pro)
  • Strong working knowledge of Esko Automation Engine, Esko DeskPack (highly considered)
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations; wears PPE.
