Job description

Position Summary:
The Prep Cook/Server is a vital member of our Food Services team, responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting with meal preparation, and serving meals in a safe, sanitary, and courteous manner. This role ensures the highest standards of food quality, cleanliness, and customer service to meet the needs of our residents.



Key Responsibilities:




Prep Cook Duties:


  • Prepare ingredients (washing, peeling, cutting vegetables, portioning food, etc.) for meals under the direction of the Cook/Chef.
  • Assist with basic food preparation and cooking as needed.
  • Ensure all food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Keep prep areas clean, organized, and stocked.
  • Label and date all stored food items and maintain proper inventory rotation.
  • Report any equipment issues or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.






Server Duties:


  • Serve meals and beverages to residents in a respectful, friendly, and efficient
  • Clean and reset tables between meal services.
  • Wash dishes and sanitize kitchen and dining equipment as needed.



Qualifications:


  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (Food Safe Certificate preferred).
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and respectful toward seniors and other residents.



Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs and carry trays or food items safely.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.



Working Conditions
  • Work shifts may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must follow all health and safety protocols and wear appropriate uniform and non-slip footwear.
