Location:

Regency Retirement Resorts have 8 locations in the Okanagan, including Vernon, Penticton, West Kelowna, and Kelowna. This position is on site at within Kelowna.

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Executive Chef, you will be assisting the Cooks and Executive Chef as directed and performing cleaning activities in all Food and Beverage areas of the Resort within established guidelines and procedures as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain professional conduct, grooming, and appearance to meet resort standards.
  • Prepare and clean vegetables and fruits using various techniques (slicing, dicing, etc.).
  • Prepare meat, fish, and poultry upon request by grinding, flouring, and breading.
  • Prepare food items like salads and desserts by mixing, blending, and measuring ingredients.
  • Assist the Cook in plating food for meal delivery.
  • Provide support to Food and Beverage Servers as needed.
  • Deliver, label, package, and transfer food items from storage to work areas.
  • Withdraw and rotate food items from the freezer for plating or heating.
  • Wash dishes, pots, and kitchen utensils, including operating the dishwasher.
  • Clean kitchen floors, walls, and equipment as directed.
  • Check, receive, and store food supplies properly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper use of supplies and avoiding waste.
  • Report any damaged or malfunctioning kitchen equipment to the Executive Chef.
  • Assist with new employee orientation and perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Food Safe Certificate

  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Mentally and physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Salary and Hours of Work

  • This is a part-time position, averaging 22.5 hours per week over three days, with flexibility required to accommodate occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays for resident needs and special events.
    • Note: Hours may increase up to 30 hours and 5 days per week depending on business needs.
  • The hourly wage for this position is $19.46.
