Job Description: Prep Cook

What will be your daily pursuit?: Your daily pursuit is preparing flavorful dishes that fuel our guests' adventures, using fresh, local ingredients to bring a taste of the region to every plate!

What will your compensation be?: The starting salary for this position is $18.50.

When does this adventure begin?: This job is posted as part of our seasonal hiring for Spring/Summer, 2025.

What will you do in this job?: The Prep Cook will provide excellent hospitality experiences through the careful preparation and cooking of food items while offering friendly and professional interaction with our guests and team members. This is a multi-faceted position and can include any, or all, of the following:

  1. Daily maintenance, organization, and cleanliness of all kitchen areas, food preparation equipment, and storage facilities.
  2. Wash, peel, and cut vegetables.
  3. Clean and cut meats, fish, and poultry.
  4. Prepare, season, and cook foods such as soups, salads, meat, fish, gravies, vegetables, desserts, sauces, and casseroles.
  5. Preparation of meals in a manner consistent with recipes and health codes.
  6. Carve meats, prepare portions on plates, and add gravies, sauces, and garnish to servings.
  7. Prepare items for buffets.
  8. Prepare any special dietary dishes as required.
  9. Stocking and maintenance of product levels as directed by the sous chef, head chef.
  10. Serving on the cafeteria line as required (Maligne Lake).
  11. Completing food prep work, dishwashing, and garbage/recycling sorting duties as required.
  12. Communicate with co-workers and management, forwarding observations and comments in a timely fashion.
  13. Uphold the high standard of environmental stewardship expected for all employees.
  14. Ensure that the work environment is safe and free of hazards.
  15. Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

What skills and experience do you need for this job?: Previous cooking experience preferred. Completion of a culinary certificate or equivalent work experience is an asset. Mature, energetic, dependable, and self-motivated. Highly organized with a great sense of attention to detail. Effective communicator. Maintains a calm demeanor during high volume or unusual events. Food Safe certification required. Enjoy working with a team in a busy, fast-paced environment. Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods in indoor and outdoor environments, prepared for all weather conditions. Must meet grooming and appearance standards. Consent to a criminal record check is required.
