Job Description

As a Prep Cook / Baker, reporting to the Chef Manager, you will be responsible for the timely and proper preparation of food and baked goods to meet high standards, especially for Tim Hortons.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Planning, preparing, presenting, and serving high-quality menus in accordance with seasonal, budgetary, and promotional guidelines.
  2. Ensuring consistent quality in food preparation, including consideration of dietary restrictions.
  3. Preparing and baking goods.
  4. Restocking pastry shelves and maintaining fresh supplies of baked goods.
  5. Operating ovens, retrieving products from freezers, and decorating baked items such as donuts according to standards.
  6. Preparing toppings and ingredients for all baked goods and food items.
  7. Completing Tim Hortons training modules.
  8. Adhering to Occupational Health and Safety regulations and Safe Food Handling standards.
  9. Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and storage areas.
  10. Managing inventory, ordering supplies, and overseeing stock management.
  11. Keeping accurate health and safety records as required.
  12. Following all Dexterra and hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  1. Availability on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
  2. Ability to work early morning shifts (e.g., starting at 6 am).
  3. Previous experience in a fast-paced food service environment, preferably with Tim Hortons or similar.
  4. At least 1 year of experience in food preparation and cooking from scratch.
  5. Current and valid food safety certification.

Physical Demands

  1. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  2. Capability to work in cold environments such as freezers and refrigerators.
  3. Ability to climb ladders or stairs.
  4. Stand, walk, squat, kneel, or sit for extended periods as required.
  5. Perform repetitive hand tasks with full use of both hands.
  6. Work with arms above shoulder height.
