Job summary

Atria Retirement Canada is seeking a kitchen assistant to support meal preparation and dining services at its retirement community. You will collaborate with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to ensure residents enjoy quality meals and a clean, safe dining environment.

Responsibilities include following recipes, maintaining hygiene standards, and assisting with events and daily food service. English communication and basic math skills are required for handling orders and schedules.

Qualifications

  • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • Able to read, write and communicate in English with residents and staff.
  • Food handlers permit as required by provincial law and/or company standards.
  • Able to follow and read recipes and production guides.
  • Knowledge of food handling, preparation, cooking and service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of meals.
  • Provide a high level of customer service.
  • Work with the Executive Chef and/or Sous Chef to keep residents satisfied with dining programs.
  • Maintain kitchen in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
  • Adhere to cleaning schedules and safety practices.
  • Ensure food is received, stored, and prepared to company standards.
  • Assist with special events, banquets, and theme meals.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a clean manner.
  • Attend pre-meal stand up in kitchen before service.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Assist cooks as requested.
  • Adhere to standard food safety practices.
  • Assist with preparation and execution of special events, banquets, and theme meals.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Will attend pre-meal stand up in kitchen prior to meal service.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
