Your Role

We're looking for Preconstruction Managers to join our Construction Solutions team. In this role, you will analyze design and constructability options to help optimize client projects. You will bring hands-on experience in design, cost estimating, and construction to provide real-time feedback throughout planning, design, and construction phases to minimize risks and maximize opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide preconstruction leadership to deliver value-based design and constructability options for projects across Canada
  • Lead and manage preconstruction activities using IPD, design-build, construction management, or stipulated price methodologies
  • Engage in design meetings with owners, architects, and engineers to optimize cost, schedule, quality, and constructability variables
  • Review drawings and specifications, providing recommendations for constructability, value engineering, and sequencing
  • Develop Construction Management Plans (CMP) considering logistics, site conditions, utilities, traffic, health & safety, and impacts on neighboring properties
  • Lead design-assist teams for renovations and equipment upgrades to ensure efficient sequencing within occupied facilities
  • Support owners and developers with trade package development, procurement, platform implementation, and procedures
  • Assist industrial clients with equipment integration, feasibility studies, preliminary design, and cost estimating
  • Develop procurement procedures for public projects
  • Conduct site visits and assessments during preconstruction and construction phases
  • Participate in business development and proposal efforts to grow the business
  • Manage project budgets and ensure deliverables meet quality standards
  • Prepare project plans and schedules, and mentor staff
  • Utilize tools like RSMeans Online, Procore, and others to prepare project deliverables

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with construction industry experience
  • 2-4 years of experience for Assistant Preconstruction Manager; 4-8 years for Preconstruction Manager
  • Professional Engineering qualifications preferred
  • PMP certification preferred or willingness to obtain within a year
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and permits
  • Ability to interpret drawings and design details
  • Knowledge of trades relevant to commercial construction
  • Familiarity with project management tools and software

Salary Range: Assistant Preconstruction Manager: $70,000 - $90,000; Preconstruction Manager: $90,000 - $120,000. Salaries depend on role, experience, and location.
