Job summary

Pomerleau in Montreal, QC is seeking a seasoned preconstruction leader to drive the front end of major building and infrastructure projects. You will mentor a team of estimators, refine scope and budgets, and collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to optimize value.

You will oversee risk analysis, detailing, and bidding processes while ensuring compliant, accurate proposals. The role blends leadership with hands-on estimation to deliver competitive preconstruction

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in preconstruction management or lead estimation for building and infrastructure projects.
  • Proficient with construction estimating software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preconstruction phase with stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and value engineering analyses to optimize scope and budget.
  • Manage bidding, solicit bids, evaluate proposals, and negotiate contracts.
  • Review bid documents, specs, and drawings for accuracy and compliance with requirements.
  • Serve as main client contact during preconstruction, providing updates and presenting cost-saving alternatives.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and stakeholders to set goals and design criteria.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of estimators throughout preconstruction.
  • Identify risks and opportunities, develop mitigation strategies, and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Implement process improvements and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.

What you will do
  • Lead the preconstruction phase of our local projects, collaborating with project stakeholders to develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and value engineering analyzes to optimize project scope and budget.
  • Manage the bidding process, including soliciting bids from subcontractors and vendors, evaluating proposals, and negotiating contracts.
  • Review bid documents, specifications, and drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients during the preconstruction phase, addressing inquiries, providing updates on project progress, and presenting cost-saving alternatives.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to establish project goals, objectives, and design criteria.
  • Supervises and mentors a team of estimators, providing guidance and support throughout the preconstruction process.
  • Foster has a collaborative and innovative team environment focused on achieving excellence in preconstruction services.
  • Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities associated with construction projects, developing strategies to mitigate risks and maximize project success.
  • Conduct thorough risk analyzes and feasibility studies to inform decision-making and project planning.

This role could be for you if you have
