Job description

Preconstruction Estimator - Construction Industry

Agilus is recruiting for a Preconstruction Estimator in the construction industry in Burlington, Ontario.

This role will be responsible for managing the estimating process for assigned projects, working closely with the owner, design consultant, and project manager to prepare cost plans, undertake value engineering, complete cost-saving exercises, and develop the project budget.

A typical day:

1. Produces detailed quantity take-offs and prices labour, material, and equipment portions of estimates.
2. Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers/subcontractors.
3. Manages the estimating process, including site conditions, safety requirements, soliciting suppliers and subcontractors, interpreting project drawings and specifications, preparing quantity surveys, and pricing estimates, including General & Special Conditions.
4. Works with the owner and owner’s consultants to perform constructability reviews.
5. Directs and monitors the progress of estimators during the bid process.
6. Generates bid packages for specific scopes of work.
7. Maintains confidentiality of subcontractor/supplier bid pricing.

Successful candidates will have:

1. Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
2. 5-10 years of experience in preconstruction estimation.
3. Strong communication skills.
4. Ability to organize and manage time, duties, and activities efficiently.
5. Ability to present information clearly.
