Job summary

Stem Health in Canada is hiring a certified DEXA Technologist to join our diagnostic team. You will perform bone density and body composition scans, ensuring precise positioning, adherence to ISCD standards, and high-quality reporting for preventive care.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of DEXA experience, CM RITO registration eligibility, CBDT/ISCD certification, and a patient-friendly approach to communicating results within a private, physician-led clinic setting.

Qualifications

  • Registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO), or eligible for registration.
  • CBDT® through the ISCD, or ARRT bone densitometry certification; ISCD CBDT® preferred.
  • Background in radiologic technology or closely related clinical field.
  • 1–2 years hands-on DEXA scanning experience, including central spine/hip and body composition protocols.
  • Proficiency in DEXA image analysis and reporting software.
  • Knowledge of osteoporosis, FRAX, and body composition metrics and their clinical significance.
  • Meticulous attention to positioning, scan quality, and QC protocol adherence.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to explain results clearly to members.
  • Experience with EHR and digital imaging platforms.
  • Experience in a private clinic, executive health, or preventive medicine setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • DEXA scanning and image acquisition at central skeletal sites for bone mineral density assessment and fracture risk stratification.
  • Conduct total body composition scans to measure lean mass, fat mass, visceral adipose tissue, and regional body composition.
  • Ensure precise patient positioning and scan acquisition in accordance with ISCD standards and manufacturer protocols.
  • Review scans for image quality, artifacts, and diagnostic completeness; troubleshoot to optimize acquisition.
  • Perform daily phantom calibration and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain QC logs and escalate equipment concerns promptly.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance and servicing of DEXA equipment with the operations team.
  • Uphold ALARA radiation safety principles and regulatory standards.
  • Document all procedures and scan data in the clinic's EHR and imaging systems.
  • Collaborate with physicians and care team to integrate DEXA results into preventive care plans.
