Advantage Personnel is seeking a skilled Conventional Machinist to join our client in New Glasgow, NS. The candidate will operate milling machines and lathes, read blueprints, and produce precision components while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires hands-on machining experience, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to craftsmanship. A machinist trade certification is preferred and CNC experience is a plus in a safety-focused shop.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of machining experience.
  • Strong understanding of milling and lathe operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Machinist trade certification preferred (3rd and 4th year apprentices will be considered).
  • Knowledge of materials and machining processes.
  • CNC experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate milling machines and lathes.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Produce precision components to exact specifications.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist with machine setup for production processes.
  • Support and guide apprentice team members as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
