Job description

Construction supervisors generally coordinate, supervise and schedule the activities of various tradespersons and construction workers. These workers may be performing the following: bricklaying, roofing, cement finishing, tilesetting, plastering, drywall installation, glazing, insulating and painting and workers who install and service prefabricated products in residential and commercial properties.

DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Supervision, coordination and scheduling of workers and their activities
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other subcontractors
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • Requisition of materials and supplies
  • Train workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
  • Prepare progress reports
  • Other duties as required

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage construction projects
  • Decisive and skilled at changing priorities and tasks
  • Physically fit, able to bend, stretch and kneel
  • Be safety conscious
  • Able to manage individuals and groups of people effectively

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of secondary school
  • Several years of experience in the trade and/or in the construction industry
  • Journeyman/woman certification may be required
