Job summary

LaGrange District 102 is seeking a Pre-K Self Contained Special Education Teacher (Long Term Substitute) to support 3–5 year olds with individualized plans. The role emphasizes implementing federal guidelines, collaborating with paraprofessionals, and applying data-based progress monitoring.

Applicants should hold an Illinois license with early childhood endorsement and a valid special education endorsement or Learning Behavior Specialist License.

Qualifications

• Illinois Professional Educator License with Early Childhood endorsement.
• Current endorsement in special education or Learning Behavior Specialist License (Early Childhood).
• Experience teaching in the last 4 years and/or related coursework.
• Knowledge of classroom content and effective strategies for autism.
• Fluency in English; Spanish knowledge preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide and implement educational plans compliant with Federal guidelines.
• Instruct students on the autism spectrum using appropriate strategies.
• Collaborate with paraprofessional educators in the classroom.
• Use task analysis and sequential skills development.
• Plan daily activities aligned with instructional objectives.
• Write behavior objectives from observations and evaluate progress.
• Involve and update parents on IEP development and progress.
• Apply assistive technology to support student needs.
• Provide individualized, small-group, and whole-group instruction.
• Create a conducive learning environment for 3–5 year olds.
